FULL CONVERSION & ENERGY UPGRADE OF A BUILDING INTO A GIRLS’ BOARDING HOUSE – THESSALONIKI

Radical conversion of an existing four-storey residential building into small “studio” apartments to serve the accommodation needs of a female boarding house. Each unit is equipped with independent electricity supply, water supply and domestic hot water system.

According to the design study, internal partitions were reconstructed, while new floor finishes, water supply networks, domestic hot water networks and electrical installations (strong and weak current systems) were installed. Each apartment includes a private bathroom and kitchenette.

Shared laundry facilities with washing machines, sinks and refrigerator areas were constructed on each floor. Partial thermal insulation was applied to the building, with the final objective of completing a full external thermal insulation composite system. High-efficiency solar collectors were installed on the roof and, through a forced circulation system, supply two triple-energy boilers located in the mechanical room, controlled by a differential thermostat and a recirculation station.

Domestic hot water production is supported by solar collectors, a gas boiler and auxiliary electric heating elements.
